This reroof project was completed in the early fall of 2022. The original roof was a glazed concrete tile that had weathered significantly, and some tile had begun to crack. Flashing details were beginning to fail and cause leaks as well as the skylights. It was time for this 25+ year roof to go. Along with getting a new leak free roof, the owners wanted a more modern look for their custom designed home. After spending some time comparing samples, it was decided that we would install a CertainTeed Triple Laminate Presidential Shingle.
Special Logistics
All of the tiles and underlayment were hauled away in trailers after being removed from the roof. It took about 5 times as many trips to dispose of the tile due to its extreme weight. It was especially difficult as there was very little room to maneuver as this house was carved into the side of a steep hill in NW Portland.
New venting had to be opened in the roof system to ensure proper air flow in the roof cavity and attic space. The installation of the shingles took 2 days and was followed by a new continuous black gutter and downspout package.
